Integrate with Stripe Tax

Most taxes aren’t flat rates for all attendees, especially for virtual events. The existing tax feature is insufficient for basically any business. Integrating with Stripe Tax would allow for automatic tax calculation via Stripe, and accurate invoices to be sent via Stripe. Either this, or some other type of automatic tax calculation built into HeySummit is key for basically everyone here.

I’d like to add my support for this feature. I’m currently organising a virtual summit for coaches and consultants and have spent quite a bit of time looking into VAT requirements with both my accountant and Stripe. One challenge I’ve discovered is that HeySummit allows organisers to collect Billing Addresses and VAT / Sales Tax IDs, but currently doesn’t support dynamic VAT calculations or reverse-charge handling. For organisers selling internationally, this creates a difficult situation. A fixed tax rate may be correct for some attendees but incorrect for others, depending on whether they are businesses or consumers and where they are located. I also learned from Stripe that simply collecting Billing Address and VAT ID information is not enough. The platform must actively integrate with Stripe Tax in order for VAT calculations and reverse-charge rules to be applied automatically. As a small business owner on the Growth plan, I would love to see support for Stripe Tax or another dynamic tax solution. It would remove a significant administrative burden and make international ticket sales much easier to manage. Thank you for considering it.

Thanks for your comments @Anita Martinez Beijer . You are spot on and we’ve been on similar journeys! The best option I’ve found is to use Quaderno, which is priced at $49-$149pm USD depending on transaction volume. @ben is it possible we could revisit this or some type of fix? Quaderno will work, but it’s a shame to have to add that software when the solution is readily available inside Stripe. Would really appreciate you considering this. I know it doesn’t have a lot of votes, but I think people don’t realise the seriousness of collecting the wrong tax amounts and missing global taxes.

Yes, we're going to look into this over the next month or two.

I found this in 2026, it would be great

Thanks Steve - we do plan to provide better tax tooling in the future. Whether we go down the internal Stripe Tax route or roll one ourselves is still being discussed.

This one doesn’t seem as popular as I thought it might be… I don’t suppose there’s any news on this anyway? Or which path you’re likely to take?

Hey Steve. This is absolutely something we plan to tackle. However it’s likely to be in 2026 as we’re currently focused on our new streaming studio product (beta due in the next month or two). This focus, as well as a few other aspects will take us into 2026.
