We recently run a Summit on a different platform, one of the speakers shared they would have liked a leader board. I am divided on it - I think some people get motivated by leaderboards and others may feel down by the whole ‘comparison’ thing. If this feature is built, can you please consider making it an optional thing speakers can choose to opt-in or out of, and/or for us as the organisers to toggle it on/off on individual speakers (similar to how there’s adjustability for affiliates % per speaker as well as to the whole group). Thanks @ben and I hope these insights/reflections are helpful in making decisions about this feature.
Thanks, Leah. Hearing use cases and feedback from others is always helpful and truly appreciated. As you'd imagine, we have a very large number of feature requests coming in. Our job is to try and prioritise based on demand and how aligned it is with our overall vision. Extra information like the one you've shared here is always super helpful and appreciated.
@ben Hi Ben, absolutely - as I said, I am divided on the idea and I am not in a rush for this feature, but I thought I’d share ideas/considerations. I really appreciate what you’re building - so keep the good work and if I can be of help with use cases/ ideas/ considerations - even better. You’re working so hard! It’s clear as day! So, don’t forget that Rest is Work Worth Doing -we need your brains fresh, not fried! ;)
Thanks, Leah. Very kind of you to say so, and yes, that's advice I often need to remind myself. Can't promise I always listen when I say that, but I will do my best. Appreciate you checking in.
+1 to rest is important, agree with Leah. An optional leaderboard for delegates would be cool functionality, encouraging more interaction. I do get Leah’s points and think making speakers compete in a gamified fashion to promote your event could be off putting to many. I believe gamifying engagement on leaderboards however is less likely to cause friction. Those into it care and want to be in the top 20, 10, 5. Those that do not are simply not bothered in most cases. Agree though granular permissions and horses for courses. Control over turning on and off features is always a good to have whenever possible.
Agree it's not necessarily that much of an issue for most speakers as it's often seen as an opt-in experience. As you say, Andrew, for those that don't care to track themselves against a leaderboard can safely ignore it.
Typing too quickly and half what I wanted to say was still in my head ..oops I had meant to say leaderboards for delegate activity should be fairly frictionless. Points for watching sessions live, leaving comments, completing their profile, uploading a profile pic, engaging in chat etc
ah gotcha. Yep makes just as much sense to do something similar for attendees, as it does for speakers.
Thanks for suggesting this. We’ve shipped speaker and affiliate referral leaderboards now. You can read more about what changed in the changelog here: https://heysummit.userjot.com/updates/p/speaker-and-affiliat…
