Hi Ben, 1. It happened on both our stages. We have set up 2 stages with multiple takls on each one for today and tomorrow. It happned on ther Blue Room and the Green Room. 2. i think it happned about an hour before the end of the last session in each stage. its seems as like the stages went in to reply mode too early as we have triple checked the timezone , date, session start time and duration for each talk. We are worried this will happen again tomorrow. I have seen the new Event Lobby but A) it says i need to upgrade to access even though im on Summit plan and B) we need people chatting while watching the live stream so need the chat on the broadcast page more than anything. We created our own breakout and network spaces for this event. Im interested in playing with this new feature if we get access but for this event, it wouldnt be a solution. Are yiou able to go into our event and check settings to ensure our chat and Q&A remains open until the very end of the last session tomorrow? As a backup, can this functionality be coded into platform? ability to not have chat and Q&A text inoput tied to the reply function?
Thanks, Luke. I appreciate the extra details there. That might be the clue we were looking for - the fact that it stopped working an hour before. We'll look into that ASAP, and I'll update you here as soon as it is resolved. I believe you've already sent a support ticket as well, so I'll let the team know to close those tickets since I'm dealing with you directly here. Obviously, moving forward, support tickets should go directly to the support team, but since I've already picked this up, I will continue with it to make sure that it's resolved before your next event. Can you just confirm how much time we have? When does the next talk start?
Thanks Ben, yeah i was hedging my bets by sending actual issue to support and feautre request to fix. I appreciate you looking into this mate. Next talk is 0900 AEST which is 13 hours from now
No worries, Luke. My pleasure. I'm glad I was able to help. We've just rolled out a fix. Essentially, we now keep the live chat open and available for new messages to be sent for four hours after the broadcast has finished. This should cover you quite nicely. For your future events, you will be using our new chat, which has a slightly different approach, but we'll make sure to extend it for the same amount of time on the new system as well. Thanks for letting us know, and do reach out if you encounter any further issues.
Thanks ben , really appreciate it mate.
Hi Ben, can I check that this fix has also been applied to the Q&A function?
Yes it applies to both
Perfect. Thanks for confirming Ben
Hey Luke, thanks so much for sharing this feedback. Typically speaking, live chat remains open for new messages while the talk or stage is being broadcast. However, once the broadcast has finished and it enters replay mode, the chat is no longer available for new messages but is available in read-only mode. Just to make sure there isn't a bug here somewhere, would you mind answering a couple of questions for me? 1. Was this on one of your stages? If so, can you tell me which one? 2. Can you remember, roughly speaking, what time the chat stopped working? Was it while the stage was still broadcasting, or was it after all of the talks within the stage had finished broadcasting? As a heads up, we have just rolled out a brand new feature in the last few days called the Event Lobby. This new networking tool allows you to create channels (i.e. general recommendations, introductions, etc), while also enabling attendees to have private messages with one another. The crucial point is that this provides networking capabilities before, during, and even after the event, giving you full persistent chat capability even after the talks have finished broadcasting. Another benefit of this new Event Lobby is that it becomes a new home for all of the talk chats. Anyone who wants to continue the conversation from the broadcast can head to the Event Lobby, where they'll find a room auto-created for each of the talks that were broadcast that day. I recommend this approach for future events. However, to ensure we don't have a bug for the ‘in-talk’ chat components, it would be super helpful if you could get back to me with answers to questions one and two above. Many thanks
