Hi Cynthia. Thanks for the feature suggestion. Just want to double-check if our existing functionality would meet your needs or whether you're looking for something slightly different. Essentially, you can already add downloadable media and resources for attendees to access, which by design are only accessible once an attendee is registered. Further than that, if you want to restrict them to individual ticket types, you can also do that. You can either link attendee media to individual talks or just make them available at the event level. Does that sound like it would meet your needs, or are you looking for something slightly different here? Many thanks
Hi Ben, I am aware of the current offering and we are using that for our event manuals. However, with the videos, they need to ONLY be accessible behind the paywall. Adding a URL inside the event still allows for an attendee to share the URL with anybody once they have it. We’d love to see an area that we could label as pre-event module/work where perhaps the functionality of a mini-course would play out there with ability to add the pdfs and importantly, the videos and any other instructions. C
Hey Cynthia, Thanks for the follow-up. If you head to Setup> Header Links, you can create new pages from there which you can then choose to either include in the main navigation or hide and link to them directly. If you do nothing else, they will be available to everyone, which means that the URL can be freely shared. However, we do have the additional ability to further restrict these pages to people who either have a particular ticket or don't have a particular ticket, so that you can then essentially create private pages that are only available to people who have paid for a particular pro ticket or something along those lines. On that page, you're then free to put whatever you want in it, in the confidence that it will only be seen by those set of attendees. Would this give you the functionality that you're looking for, or are you still trying to achieve something different than described here?
Hi Ben, I think we are getting somewhere near to what we need with that yes! Here are a few thoughts though: 1. We have 5 videos to be watched - making 5 pages takes a bit of time, but putting everything on the same page can be messy. I used the custom html feature to add accordions instead. Given that accordions have some javascript, it might be useful if that could be a built in option for components and it would speed up the creation process. 2. We wanted pdfs here too. The pdf is consulted alongside the video guide. There doesn’t seem to be a way to upload (and again, we don’t want to link outside the system). A work around might be to refer to pdfs in attendee media, but then it gets a bit messy (Watch the video here, find the pdf elsewhere). Can we add pdf upload ability? 3. When renaming the title of a created page, the slug automatically changes to that title. Can we disable that for changes (only enable autoslug for first time creation)? 4. I left the critical one to the end! For whatever reason, when using the text component, I have no issues editing with the tools bar (H1/H2/B and so on) on my first edit. However, if I exit editing, upon return I cannot edit. Tried in both Brave and Edge. Tried clicking into the box, double clicking and clicking the edit icon (next to the delete icon). Oops forgot this: Can we track Video views (linked to attendee) in this scenario above? I don’t think so right?
Hi Cynthia, Thanks so much for following up! Please see my responses to your individual points below: Item 1: Given that you're wanting to show videos to specific ticket holders, there are really two choices for you here. Either you create a custom page that is restricted to a particular ticket, and then via the page builder drop in a YouTube video, Vimeo video, etc. This will show all videos on that one page. You can then direct attendees to that page and ask that they watch each of the videos, one by one. Or if you would prefer to have each video have its own dedicated page, you could just set them up as a normal talk within your event and make them only available to specific ticket holders (this would be done at the ticket level by either including or excluding specific talks to the ticket in question). It's perfectly fine if a talk doesn't have a date. On the broadcast tab, you'll want to specify that no broadcast will be made available. Doing this will essentially send it straight to the replay area, making it a little bit easier for your attendees to find. Ultimately, the best route for you here depends on whether you want a dedicated page per talk (in which case the second suggestion is probably what you'll want to do) or a single page with all of the various video replays shown on one page (in which case the first suggestion is probably the most appropriate). Item 2: You could theoretically just link to files that you've uploaded on some other platform on a dedicated page if you went down that route. But in truth, it's probably going to be easier to go with the second suggestion I noted in item one above, i.e., where you create a dedicated talk page for each of these videos. Not only do you get to then show the video on that talk page, but you can also link downloadable media specifically for each of those talks. Item 3: Thanks for the heads up on this. I'll pass this over to our support team so that they can look into this for you. They will follow-up if they have any questions. Item 4: Thanks! I'll also pass this over to the support team so that they can look into this for you and test on the Brave browser that you mentioned. They'll report back if they've been able to replicate it and if not with questions to help narrow down the issue. Item 5 (re: tracking video views): No, you're quite right. If you're just dropping native video elements onto a custom page, you cannot track page views from within HeySummit. This is another reason why I do think it's probably going to be far simpler for you to just create a dedicated talk page for these restricted talks and make sure at the ticket level that you're restricting so that only certain ticket holders can actually watch the content for those talks.
Followed this conversation and took away a lot of useful tips. Thanks @Cynthia W and @ben Looking at this and several other requests, I think an ideal scenario for users, and addresses a couple of other requests would be for us to have the ability to house multiple event types within a parent event. Proposal - Sub event types supported within multi-day events. - Add a “Forever community” event type with no end date. Both act as a parent container that can host sub-events. Example sub-events: workshops, on-demand video library, video courses, ongoing series. Desired behaviour - Single registration at the parent level. Sub-events inherit access (per ticket type, auto registered etc). Optional overrides for paid or private items. - Unified navigation and schedule across sub-events. - Ability to create, schedule, and publish sub-events over time. - Analytics at both parent and sub-event levels. Why it matters Reduces friction for always-on communities and programs. Simplifies user journeys and operations. Allows an always on community to run multiple training programs - POTENTIALLY HUGE additional use case for the platform with this enabled. Required training, video courses, or on demand libraries can be made easily for multi day and forever events. Happy to help scope further, I know your roadmap is really packed, so maybe a 2026 roadmap candidate?
Hey Andrew, thanks as always for chiming in. A lot of what you're touching on here is broadly in line with something we'd love to do in 2026, which is to create an organisational level / set of landing pages that sits above your events so that you can have your primary brand/organisation with its own landing page that then acts as a signpost to all the various other types of events you might have within it. Effectively allowing you to link your multi-day events through to your courses, your one-off workshops etc all under one roof. This is something that we'd like to do, but as you say, we've got a packed out roadmap this year and into the early parts of next, and so it'll likely be mid to late 2026 before we consider this. But it's good to hear that we're thinking along similar lines.
Agreed, it is big! Along these same lines. The ability for the child events to sell tickets directly (using alternate Stripe account) but for the purchase details also stored in the parent event. When we host in person events in a new country for tax compliance reasons there is a new legal entity created for each location. But the ticket holders would like one central place to see everything. Multi-jurisdiction Ticket Sales with Unified Customer Experience It would be awesome to have a system where: 1. Child events can process payments directly through their own Stripe accounts (required for tax compliance in different countries) 2. Purchase data flows to the parent event so all ticket information is centrally stored 3. Customers get unified account access - when someone buys a ticket from any sub-event, they automatically get an account on the parent platform where they can view all their purchases across events Business Context: - We create separate legal entities in each country we host events (Spain, Netherlands, Canada, etc.) for VAT/tax compliance - Each entity needs its own payment processing - But customers want one central dashboard to see all their tickets across all our events, regardless of which country/entity they purchased from Key Benefit: Maintains legal/tax compliance while providing seamless customer experience - they buy locally but manage everything centrally. If what you have in mind can take the above scenario into account, that would fix the tax compliance and billing issues we discussed a couple of months back. In the interim we will likely use TT and Zapier to connect things, I will drop a ticket to support to see the best approach there.
Hey Andrew - Yep I think features like this will become a likely candidate for the org/brand level layer that we create. As the whole point of that new layer will be to allow resources/data to be pooled from all sub-events sitting underneath it.
Sounds perfect. In terms of major functionality i think getting the following three things locked down would really help set HeySummit apart as a (the?) Leader in the online community solution space - Member Directory - Org Level management - Enhanced Lobby Chat A Video Broadcast studio would certainly be a big enhancement for most of the users primary use case I imagine, so understand the prioritisation there and do believe it will significantly enhance the platform for most. Love the direction you are taking the platform.
Thanks Andrew, and agree those do seem pretty integral. As you've noted, our primary focus at the moment is the new video streaming studio. Once those are rolled out, we can focus on enhancing the lobby chat and a bunch of other aspects related to this.
@Andrew Bonar and I have 98% the same needs. We operate a fairly similar business model. I truly cannot wait for this to be implemented. Thanks in advance!
Hi Ben, Yes, you are right, I think adding everything as a regular talk works best if there is to be no specific pre-course area! I wasn’t aware that we could add talks without dates and still have them display in this type of event. Could we ask that you add the ability to order the media though please as right now it’s random (it’s not order of upload or alphabetical). We’d like to be able to arrange the files in the most logical way for attendees. Another thing to mention to the developers re item 4 is that undo (CTRL Z) actually undoes all changes rather than just the last one. But, like I said, I can’t actually edit anyway once I have saved the page!
