World map with pins for attendee names in their country or city location

We used to use https://www.mapcustomizer.com/ to make an interactive map with a pin for each attendee who opted in to add themself. (Example: https://www.mapcustomizer.com/map/Protospiel%20Online%20Janu…) It has been a nice way to let people see which fellow attendees are in their local area or at least in their approximate time zone. Map Customizer has discontinued support for new map creation. We haven’t had any luck finding an inexpensive replacement that allows us to easily upload pin data in a big batch. (Bonus points if the upload could use the same syntax of CITY STATE/PROVENCE COUNTRY {PIN LABEL 1}, CITY STATE/PROVENCE COUNTRY {PIN LABEL 2}, etc. with both city and state/province as optional info.) I’ve still been able to load data into Map Customizer and take a screen shot to show the spread of our attendance, but I can no longer share a link people can visit to hover over, see names, and identify others local to them. This could be a fun and helpful addition to HeySummit’s upcoming attendee directory feature.

Thanks again for suggesting this. We’ve now shipped an Attendee Map that can be added to event pages, with privacy-first anonymous locations by default and an optional named mode for attendees who explicitly opt in. Update: I found a developer who is working to offer a replacement for Map Customizer. The tool is working right now for adding pins one at a time or bulk uploading locations when you have the coordinates. The developer is easy to reach through the bug report and feature request forms on the tool’s main page. They say the ability to bulk upload pins based on location name/address is on their roadmap. https://www.createmappins.com/

Hey Heather, Thanks so much for the suggestion. I do like this, though I see it as a nice-to-have rather than a must-have for the time being, at least anyway. What I would like to do is leave it up on the feedback board and see if there's wider support for it. We'll keep an eye on it and see if interest increases in the future. Thanks again for the suggestion, and all being well, it'll be something we can roll out in a future update.

Thank you! To be transparent, I should say: This would probably only end up as a feature I personally use if it was included in the Growth plan. As things stand with the business I’m using HeySummit for, I don’t foresee the Success plan being in my budget.
